Samir Amin is an Egyptian national and one of the leading scholars in the world in this era. He has written many books particularly on the subject of political economy, twelve of these having been translated from the French into English. He is currently Director of the Third World Forum's Strategies for the Future of Africa Project in Dakar, Senegal.
