Mansfield Park tells the story of Fanny Price, starting when her overburdened family sends her at the age of ten to live in the household of her wealthy aunt and uncle. There she grows up with her four cousins: Tom, Edmund, Maria and Julia. She is tolerated in Mansfield Park, but she is not really welcome. Only Edmund is genuinely kind to her and treats her as his own. As the years pass, her gratitude for Edmund's kindness and friendliness becomes more and more love.
